Bride

Revelation 21:2 describes the New Jerusalem as a bride prepared for her husband.  There is nothing quite like attending a wedding where the doors of the church are opened and the groom sees his chosen bride walk down the aisle.  Everyone's attention is focused on the bride as she makes her way to join her future husband.  All of the long months of planning and preparation have been leading up to this moment of bride and groom finally being together.

In the first few verses of John, chapter 14, Jesus told His disciples that He would be going away to prepare a special place (the New Jerusalem) for them -  an eternal home for them in His Father's house.  But equally important was the reason why Jesus was going to prepare a special place for them.  In John 14:3 Jesus said, "that you also may be where I am."  To each one of us, Jesus extends the invitation for us to join Him in the New Jerusalem.  It is up to us how we will respond to His offer.
