Thanksgiving

It is easy to give thanks when things are going well.  You got the raise at work.  The owners accepted your offer on the house you wanted.  The doctor visit went well and the results of the test came back negative.  Those are all things to be grateful for. That's easy.  But Philippians 4:6 tells us to be thankful even in the times when life is just plain miserable.  You lost your job.  You don't know where you are going to live.  The doctor says you have stage 3 cancer.  Is it possible to be thankful even then?

In this verse, the apostle Paul is talking about a deeper thankfulness that is based on the trust that no matter what, our Heavenly Father will take care of us.  Paul is saying that even when life is bleak, God still loves and cares for us and for that reason alone we should and must give thanks.  Have you taken the time today to give thanks for the blessings, no matter how small, God has blessed you with today?
